10th Volvo Russian Sailing Week finished in Marmaris
The 10th Jubilee Volvo Russian Sailing Week hoisted sails once again in Marmaris.
Throughout 5 years history of this popular event for Russian hobby sailors more than 2000 participants made their first steps under the sails.
We started this event in 2007 with Alexey Kulchinskiy and Michael Saveliyev of Russian Yachting Centre (Moscow) and with the support of Volvo Cars Russia and we are very happy and proud of what we created together.
The Volvo Russian Sailing Week is not only an interesting sailing regatta, but also a club, gathering of friends, yachting family, which keeps on growing.
This time the weather has really tested our strength with 7 Beaufort south storm in the beginning of the week, but all 31 crews arrived safe in the harbor and partied even harder on shore.
Heavy rain until the middle of the week didn't spoil teams spirits and fight for the trophies was as tough as the weather conditions.
With the storm passing by Wednesday we were able as planned to held live concert of "Russian Bob Dylan", Alexey Romanov, the leader of the cult Russian band Voskresenye ("Sunday"), in Ekincik bay. Our tough sailors were granted for all the efforts with the unforgettable and romanic concert scene on the couch roof of the committee catamaran, under the full moon and stars.
The final race, traditional olympic triangle in the bay of Marmaris set all the final results of the race, with ideal fair winds and calm sea conditions.
